Antigua Caja Real

Ignacio Aldama

This beautiful baroque architecture building was built to raise the fifth of the metals that corresponded to the King of Spain. It was also a police station, customs, residence of governors and episcopal residence, so the street name is read in mosaic as “Bishopric Street”. In a niche is the stone sculpture of the Purísima Concepción, gift of King Carlos III of Spain to the city. It is currently occupied by the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, as a cultural center.
