Main city forum for cultural expression. Located in what was part of the land of the Carmelite Convent. This neoclassical building has a classic pediment. Its construction began in 1889, under the direction of Arch. José Noriega and was inaugurated on December 4, 1894. It has capacity for one thousand four hundred and fifty spectators. Inside you can see mosaics of Fernando Leal and bronze figures made by the sculptor Joaquín Arias. Its Belgian bronze dome lets the zenith light pass over the statue of the dancer placed in the center.
